Liverpool Vs Chelsea [Match Summary]

After the fantastic display at Standord Bridge, Dalglish said: "If you have a fantastic performance you've got a better chance of getting a result and I think that's what we did."
The 2-1 win over Chelsea was with far more ambitious performance than what they did at Stamford Bridge last season.Glen Johnson(know more about Glen Johnshon) sensational solo goal to seal a win extended Dalglish’s remarkable unbeaten record against Chelsea in his two spells as Reds manager.
Liverpool repeatedly attacked Chelsea with forward players such as Craig Bellamy, Luis Suárez, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodríguez.Maxi Rodriguez scored his first league goal this season in his first appearance for this season.Charlie Adam pressed and dispossed John Obi Mikel which directly led to the Merseyside club’s opening goal by Maxi.
Charlie Adam performed well to prove his worth and find his role in Liverpool. He attempted 53 passes, two clearance, two interceptions and won five of his eight challeges. It was him who assisted for the final winning goal from Johnshon.

Chelsea has lost three of its last four league games.Goal keeper Peter Cech conceded two goal with only three shots on target.Center Back DavidLuiz continued to show his poor tackling, Drogba was not efficient is strike and on-form players like Mata and Sturridge could not play much centrally. In a nutshell, it was a poor defence that caused Chelsea's fall.
Liverpool’s players wore black armbands following the death of goalkeeper Brad Jones’ young son from leukaemia on Friday.
Dalglish said: “That’s when football becomes irrelevant, really, when a five-year-old kid dies.
“We all dread to think what the boy’s gone through. He knows everyone at the club is thinking of him and are sympathetic with him.”

The Welsh international had previously fulfilled a boyhood dream when he left Blackburn Rovers for Merseyside for the first time back in 2006 - and despite just one season in L4, he played his part in some dramatic victories.
The diminutive striker hit nine goals in 42 games, including a header in a 2-1 Champions League success over Barcelona in February 2007. He scored one and set up another for John Arne Riise as the Reds beat the reigning European champions in their own backyard.
He netted a debut strike at the Kop end against Maccabi Haifa and was also on target against his former club Blackburn.
His pace and work-rate were to prove valuable assets during the campaign as Liverpool reached another Champions League final, although he was an unused substitute during the 2-1 loss to AC Milan.
Bellamy's only trophy with the Reds was the Community Shield when he set up the winner for Peter Crouch with a perfect left-wing cross in a 2-1 success over Chelsea in Cardiff.
However, with Rafa Benitez looking for a new direction Bellamy joined West Ham in August 2007.
A move to Manchester City then materialised in January 2009 when he proved a very effective weapon playing on the left side of the attack.
He scored two fantastic goals in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford and was a popular figure with the City faithful.
Despite his relationship with the fans he later fell out of favour with Roberto Mancini and spent a season on loan at Cardiff City - before eventually making his Liverpool return.

Liverpool FC:Stadium Issues

Liverpool Football Club’s managing director Ian Ayre admitted that Liverpool will not be pressured into deciding on whether to redevelop Anfield or move to a new stadium.
He aslo added, “increasingly unlikely” that the club would be able to redevelop 45,000-seat Anfield and instead suggested a move to a new stadium at nearby Stanley Park could be a more realistic option.
“No amount of pressure will force Liverpool Football Club to make a decision quickly for the wrong reasons,” “With regards the refurbishment, the type of work that's been going on (in the last nine months) has been developing plans and drawings that look at what is possible with Anfield, and that has incorporated a study into the extension of the main stand and a study into the extension of the Anfield Road End.
“Both of these, if successful, could deliver a 60,000-plus seater, which would be great, but it comes with whole other challenges and whole other areas we have to investigate.”

Liverpool Asian Tour:Singapore Reporter's Blog

Liverpool in Asia

As I made my way out of Singapore's Changi Airport late on Sunday night, I was beginning my own new adventure: moving from England to live in Asia.

Many questions had crossed my mind regarding the move from being so far away from home to watching Liverpool games in the middle of the night!

But the first thing I saw was the passion for football from the locals, the airport was full of fans in replica jerseys from Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.

Already the fans' passion for football has been clear for all to see ahead of Liverpool's visit to Kuala Lumpur and then onto Singapore.

As I write this Liverpool will be busy preparing for their game against Guangdong in China but the buzz here in the short time I've been here has been about the visit in a week's time.

It may only be a training session but it's a chance for the many thousands of Liverpool fans to see their heroes up close in the flesh.

Many had already made plans to go to Kuala Lumpur for the game on Saturday but it's been a nice surprise to many to hear that the team are coming here for a training session.

It's slightly sad that Steven Gerrard, Pepe Reina and Glen Johnson are not part of the travelling party but plenty of stars will still be there like Jamie Carragher and Dirk Kuyt so it's nice to see the players come and it's great for the club's supporters here in Singapore.

Adding to that will be a first opportunity for many to see how our new signing Charlie Adam.

Just over 36 hours into my new career here in Singapore, it's clear to see football brings many together here. Liverpool and Manchester United are clearly the two biggest British teams here, with someone telling me a public screening of the clash of giants a couple of seasons ago brought together over 2,500 people when the local authorities were only expecting 500.

There is a rivalry between the two sets of fans as you'd expect and surprisingly it is as intense as you'd expect in Liverpool and Manchester. The fans here understand the game, they also get more access to matches then we'd be use to at home.

With 3pm kick-offs still not shown live on television in the UK, foreign audiences get that privilege and every Liverpool game is a massive occasion for the Singaporean Kop.

I've not yet had the chance to meet the local supporters clubs but I'm sure I'll understand the love for Liverpool even more once I get that opportunity.

In fact I may even get that opportunity next week when the Reds are in town with thousands in attendance to see a specially put on training session.

Fans will also be getting to see Kenny Dalglish at work up close. He's not just lifted the fans in Liverpool and the UK but also over here in Singapore. Hopefully he'll lift the club to where it rightfully belongs next season and in the years to come.

Liverpool Transfer Targets 2011/12 : Kenny Dalglish

Kenny Dalglish has spoken about the transfer targets for Liverpool this summer when he spoke to Liverpoolfc.tv.
If you follow every rumour that is on the news then you would lose your mind. Liverpoolfc.tv had an article yesterday where they listed 66 players that we were linked with in the month of June. Some of the players on that list are realistic prospects for Liverpool whilst some are just laughable.Hope we find some good players to sign this summer.
He said,“I wouldn’t mention anyone as a target for us,We are obviously trying to bring people in and people are trying to take players from us. We are not going to speculate and be disrespectful and talk about other people at other clubs. Every manager I’ve seen interviewed on television has said exactly the same thing. That’s the way it should be.”

YNWA

(Why the Fans of Liverpool are called Kopites?)

Kop is referred to the number of terraces and stands at sports stadium mainly in United Kingdom. The steep structure of the Stadium resembles the hill near Ladysmith in South Africa that was the place for Battle of Spion Kop in 1900 during the Second Boer War which was fought between British Empire and the African speaking inhabitants of South African Republic and Orange Free State.
In the year 1906, Editor Ernest Edwards from Liverpool Echo sports stated of a new open-air embankment at Anfield: "This huge wall of earth has been termed 'Spion Kop', and no doubt this apt name will always be used in future in referring to this spot" and this name was formally adopted in 1928 upon construction of a roof over the kop. It is thought to be the first terrace officially named Spion Kop.
"Kopites" is a name given to the supporters of Liverpool Football Club which refers to the fans who once stood, and now sit, on the Kop at Anfield.

Steven Gerrard’s Yoga Secret

Steven Gerrard recovery from the groin injury was due to his new fitness techniques including yoga. The injury left the skipper to miss all the last part of the 2010/11 season.

He quoted,“My groin feels so good just now,” . “For two or three hours each day I will have to work on my body to make sure I am right,. But I don’t see that as a chore. This is me getting right for Liverpool Football Club.
“I have started doing yoga a couple of times a week as well. It absolutely wipes you out. People who think you turn up and you’re just posing in different shapes should have a go!”

The captain is out of action since the 3-1 win over Manchester United on March 6 and had gone through an operation on his groin.

Dalglish said: "We start back Monday so we'll see how everybody is then. Everything that has been done has been very positive for Steven so we are just hoping for the best for him. Suarez dream move to Barcelona

Luis Suarez revealed that he would join the European champions Barcelona if he gets any such offer.

He joined Liverpool from Ajax in January in a £22 million. He said that he aways had a "dream" of playing for the all-conquering Spanish giants.
Intrestingly, His agent, Pere Guardiola, is the brother of Barca coach Pep Guardiola.
He said,"Before meeting Pere Guardiola, my current agent, I had this desire, this dream of a chance to play for that team."
"Obviously he [Pere] is a person related to Barcelona by his brother, but work situations are totally different relationships. If Guardiola wanted me, he would want me no matter who represents me."
Suarez came off the bench to score on his Liverpool debut at Anfield and quickly became a fans' favourite when he contributed to all three of his team's goals in a 3-1 win over arch-rivals Manchester United.

Torres Helped Bringing Suarez To Liverpool

Luis Suarez has revealed that Fernando Torres was the one to convince him to join Liverpool. Despite being in the process  for a move to Chelsea, Torres asked him to join Liverpool during the January transfer window.
He said, "Torres suggested joining Kenny Dalglish's side would benefit his game."
He also said,"You feel the pressure of what the club has paid for you, but I tried to live as calmly as I could, not to think about the people watching me."
He also admitted that Torres helped him settle so quickly to life on Merseyside.
"He told me to be the same player I always was, not to try to change, that Liverpool were a great team and that they would help me to grow a lot.
"The truth is that his advice was a great help and he was not wrong; he was exactly right."
