Liverpool are weighing up a surprise £6.5m deal for Brest striker Nolan Roux.
The 23-year-old is heading to England for talks this week and reports in France say Anfield is his destination.
Liverpool are willing to match the release clause in the Frenchman's contract to see off competition from Marseille and Schalke 04.
Roux: He is a 5.11ft striker who is right-footed by can finish well with his left and head. His goal scoring statistics this past season have not been something to ride home about, he managed to score 6 goals in 28 games. But the season before that he helped Brest gain promotion to the top flight by scoring 15 goals in 34 games.
Roux is said to be coming in as a replacement for David Ngog. Roux would be filling in as a backup striker for Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt but is this the kind of quality backup we need if we are to challenge for the Top 4 next season.
